When the spot is getting a new tree, a patio, a fence line or a shed, grinding alone is not enough. We take out the grindings and the root plate, then backfill with clean topsoil so the ground is ready to build on or plant in.
This is the right call whenever something is going back into the same hole. Chips settle as they break down, so anything built over a plain grind — a fence post, a slab corner, a new tree — sinks with them. Removal costs more than a grind because it is more work and a trailer load, and we will tell you honestly whether your project actually needs it.
